This documentary chronicles the life, music, and times of maverick singer-songwriter Janis Ian, beginning with her teen years as a precocious member of the vibrant Greenwich Village folk scene before ascending to international stardom in the mid-70s and cementing her place as a voice for outsiders everywhere. While she embraces her Jewish upbringing, upholds feminist values, and advocates for LGBQT+ rights, Janis Ian’s story and music transcends the boundaries that divide us, a testament to our shared humanity.

We will watch Janis Ian: Breaking Silence at 7:00 p.m. in the TBE Library, followed by a discussion. RSVP to Bob Krovetz. Click here to join the film group mailing list.
